Dear Mr. Allen,

I am writing about the history report due tomorrow morning. I finished most of it, but my computer froze while I was adding the final sources. I saved a draft, but two paragraphs disappeared.

I understand that deadlines are important. However, may I submit the report tomorrow evening instead? I can also send you the draft now, so you can see my progress.

I am sorry for the trouble. I should have saved another copy earlier. Thank you for your understanding.
